Happy Holy Week, leaders! Welcome to the April edition of The Table's Leadership Monthly Newsletter. If you're new to leadership, welcome! Old updates of this newsletter are stored here

I hope you all are enjoying the lovely spring weather and are anticipating our Easter celebration this weekend! There's quite a bit going on over the next few weeks so please take a moment to read all that's listed below. Let me know if you have any questions!

NEWS + UPCOMING EVENTS

Good Friday: Our Good Friday service will be this Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m. TableKIDS will not be offered.

Easter Sunday: We will have two services on Easter Sunday, April 21 at the GALA Theater (3333 14th St NW) at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. TableKIDS will be offered at the 9:30 service only. We will not have an evening service at the Downtown Parish on April 21. We recommend coming EARLY so you get a seat and can get settled before service starts. We're changing up the order of service so you won't want to miss the beginning of service!

NO COHI / MORNING SERVICE MAY 5: We've been enjoying our time at the GALA Theater. Unfortunately in our negotiations, we were told that there would be 2-3 Sundays a year where we couldn't have church service due to other events happening in the space. May 5 is one of those Sundays so we will have one joint service at our Downtown Parish at 5 p.m. on May 5. Please encourage your teams to attend + serve! We'd love both congregations represented.

Summer Dinner Parties: Our Spring Dinner Parties will take a break during the month of May (see below) and relaunch for the summer for June-July! Please identify folks on your teams or in your networks at church who have leadership potential and encourage them to consider leading a Dinner Party. We'd love to expand this ministry and one day have a dinner party on every block! Folks can learn more/sign-up hereand email Josh McComas, our Dir. of Community Ministry, for more information. Trainings will be on April 28 and May 5. 

Sabbath May: Each May, we slow down a bit to rest and reset and give our leaders some time to relax. Apart from Sunday services, most of our extracurriculars hit the pause button. Dinner Parties and Next Steps classes will resume in June. 

RENEW: This is not affiliated with The Table but many of you have asked for faith-related financial advising so we wanted to share this opportunity! A member of our congregation, Stephen Schaber, teaches a four-week course faith-focused course designed for those living in expensive cities that he will offer in May. The course covers the fundamentals of personal finance, such as budgeting, debt elimination, and saving for retirement. Each class is between 1.5 and 2 hours. The cost is $75 per person and each participant receives a workbook. You can sign-up by email Stephen at stephen.schaber@gmail.com.

LEADERSHIP UPDATES

  • Dylan Davis is our new Creative Director! Dylan will be responsible for stewarding the gifts of our creative team as well as coordinating our brand. 

  • Gretchen DeMong is our new Communion Coach at the Downtown Parish. Join me in welcoming her! And be sure to reach out if you're interested in serving.

  • Erin Byrne (CoHi TableKIDS Coach) and Joshua McComas (Dir. of Community Ministry) are ENGAGED!!! Join me in celebrating them and praying for their future together.

  • Erin Byrne, Shakira Ross, and Natalie Fertig will travel to the Orange Conference at the beginning of May to learn about how we can have the best Family Ministry and TableKIDS programming. Pray for their travels and their time at the conference!

OPPORTUNITIES TO LEAD

  • The Director of Production oversees the sound and media coaches at both locations.

  • The Next Steps Administrator emails participants following the weekly class to invite them to the next step, and connect them to the appropriate people in the community (dinner party leader, ministry teams, etc.).

  • The Media Coach (both parishes are open) schedules the team doing slides each Sunday at CoHi Parish and trains new team members.

  • We'd love to add a few assistant sound techs to our CoHi team which would involve helping with set-up and tear-down of the sound system. We'll teach you all you need to know!

PRAISES + PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Continued praises for the team at GALA Theater who arrives early each week to prepare our worship space. Please continue to pray for leaders to step up and serve in this new building (specifically Experience team, Greeting Team, and Media). 

  • For open doors at St Stephens and a new home for our Food Pantry.

  • For our spring Dinner Party leaders who are creating spaces for people to grow in community.

  • For Gretchen and Dylan who stepped into new leadership roles over the past month!

  • For continued direction and wisdom for leadership and provision for our ministry.

  • For Easter 2019 -- that it would be an incredible time of celebration and welcome for people new to the city, neighborhood, or church.

  • For all those getting baptized this Sunday!

  • For all new Dinner Parties, that they'd bear fruit, and grow in their faith and number!

  • For new ministry team coaches for the Media Teams at both locations (CoHi and Downtown).

  • For Dir. of Production role to be filled

  • For our justice + compassion ministries, that they'd remain fruitful and we'd have new opportunities to love our city well.
