Hey Table Church --
A few months ago, I sat in the balcony of a packed church in Southeast DC with over forty members of The Table Church. We had come together with other churches from across DC to meet with Mayor Bowser and advocate for a more just and compassionate city. In that moment, as I listened to Mayor Bowser talk, I was reminded once again that our church is not built on the gifts and talents of a few but on the sacrifices of many. Forty people don’t show up by accident — it only happened because someone dedicated themselves to making it happen.
Below you’ll get a glimpse of the impact that you helped our community make over the past three months. Toward the bottom of the page is a snippet of our Q3 financials. As always, please reach out if you have any questions. As a church, you fed hundreds of people, provided food staples to hundreds more, advocated for a more compassionate city, welcomed people to God’s family, lamented racial injustice, dedicated 21 days to seeking God’s face, and celebrated incredible answers to prayer. All of this was only possible through your generosity.
But, here’s the amazing thing — we’re just getting started! We have exciting plans for the coming year as we continue to follow Jesus, grow in community, discover our purpose and then are unleashed to make a difference in the world. I'm so glad you're along for the ride.
Serve Day 2017
Part of our mission at The Table is to join God in the renewal of all things including our neighborhoods, the city of DC, and our world. As part of this mission, our church participated in an international SERVE Day on Saturday, July 15, 2017. The Table had eight groups that served across the city! We hosted a bingo night for elderly residents at The Hodge on Seventh. We created care packages for unhoused neighbors in northwest DC. We hosted a movie night for the youth at Hopkins Housing Complex. We cleaned up multiple neighborhoods around the city. We welcomed people into our church and gave them fresh produce and food. AND we did it all with joy in our hearts and smiles on our faces. It was a beautiful day serving the Lord and those around us.
21 Days of Prayer
We launched our first ever 21 Days of Prayer, which included fasting and praying together, meeting on Saturday mornings for prayer services, and following a daily prayer focus each day as a community. This time was fruitful and God did incredible things in our church through prayer.
We were thrilled to relaunch our TableKIDS Program with brand new curriculum! Using the Orange curriculum, we now have a separate Pre-School and Elementary program at our CoHi Parish and we hope to make these changes to the Downtown Parish soon. The Table averages 15 kids between both locations per Sunday. We're excited to continue investing in our youth.
Community Empowerment Award
The Table was awarded the Community Empowerment Award by CARECEN for our support of their work in the community. We accepted the award in person and celebrated with their community at their 36th Anniversary party. Learn more about our partnerships here.
Justice and Compassion
Our involvement with the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN) continues to grow. WIN is a non-partisan partnership of faith organizations that stands up for the rights of our most vulnerable communities. At a recent action with Mayor Bowser, we had one of the largest groups in attendance of any church, with over 40 people from the Table attending.
