Dear Church,

As we stepped into this new season together, I had Isaiah 43:19 close to my heart. It reads:

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

I won’t deny the fact that I was nervous to see what God had in store for us during this transition season. But as I reflect on the last three months, I am honored to be a witness to God’s faithfulness. You all have told me over and over again, that we are doing something unique, something new, and something special in DC. We continue to be a place where all people are welcome and embraced, and in the midst of our differences, we are engaging in authentic community together.

Throughout this season, new leaders have stepped up to the plate and took ownership of this incredible church and the future God has planned for us. I am grateful for each and every one of you, for the time and energy you are investing into our future. I am humbled to serve alongside you.

Below are some highlights from this past quarter. While you reflect on the past three months, let these exciting snippets prepare you for all the more God has in store for us in the future. He is faithful, and he will do it.

If you call The Table your home church, I invite you to also invest in our future financially. Click here to give a one-time gift or set up recurring giving.

Jessica Breslin
Interim Lead Pastor
The Table Church

Prior to the fall and a new year, we return to the rhythms of praying first by intentionally spending 21 days in prayer together as a church community. This August we walked through 21 days of prayer with all-church pryer gatherings and intentional prayer targets that kept us focused on coming to God first as we built this holy habit together. During our midweek gatherings we also heard from folks in our community who gave testimony to how they have been transformed by the power of prayer.

During this season of transition, we have been grateful for the various leaders who have chosen to dig deeper into The Table community and serve the community with their gifts and talents. We had 19 people step into leadership roles this quarter across multiple levels of ministry. We also have been thankful for the gifts of our teaching team who have graced us with Godly wisdom each Sunday at the pulpit.

In September, we launched 10 Dinner Parties for the fall season. Dinner Parties are weekly gatherings of neighbors to share a meal together, where we live out the values of our church in order to become more thoughtful and authentic followers of Jesus. We believe that life was not meant to be lived alone, and that our spiritual journey as disciples of Jesus happens in the context of community, conversation, and prayer. These welcoming communities are neighbor-based where we grow together on our spiritual journeys as one church, regardless of individual walks.

This quarter, the Pastoral Search Committee at The Table Church began meeting weekly to seek God’s wisdom and discernment as we navigate the search for a new lead pastor. This committed group of nine individuals comes from all walks of life and represents the diversity of The Table Church. They’ve spent countless hours praying together, combing through applications, interviewing qualified candidates, and discussing the future of The Table Church. We’re grateful for their commitment and dedication, and know that our future is in good hands. For all updates related to the pastoral search process, click here.
